A small elegant lamp with the base consisting of a dish-shaped tray, to hold game tokens, supported a central shaft fitted with two or three candle brackets, and a metal shade. The height of the shade adjusted by means of a screw key which was lowered as the candles burned down to protect the player's eyes from the glare. In excellent and working condition the lamp has a lovely aged patina.
