This vintage MCM lampshade features a unique two tiered atomic shape with a funky, geometric design. It is large in size, with an inverted cone top-tier and a round drum bottom tier, giving it a retro Mid-Century Modern style. This two-tiered fiberglass shade creates a statement piece for any space. Please look at all of the photos and use those as the main part of the condition description. I take lots of photos for this purpose.
The lampshade needs some work. It needs to be re-laced as the laces are breaking down and coming apart.
These are the original leather laces. It also shows its age with some darkening/age spots. There is one spot where there is a tiny small tear near the hole from the lace pulling. I will try to show an example on the photos. The wire parts are rusty. When I bought this, it smell like cigarette smoke, but I have had it a few years and now it only smells like smoke if you put your nose right up to it. I have a non-smoking home. I did not try to clean this, but you can do that.
The tough and bottom tiers feel like different material - the top tier is more traditional, fiberglass paper feeling, and the bottom tier feels like it has a plastic coating on it - which is why the fabric on the bottom chair is in better condition. Feel free to ask questions! I double box items like this.So it will be the item padded in a box. Inside another box with 2 to 3 inches of padding/styrofoam all around.
