I made this lamp shade by hand using almost all antique materials including: antique metallic and silk trim, antique silk heavily embroidered fabric, antique handmade flower appliqués, antique gold metallic fine netting, vintage French fringe. The color of the fringe is a cross between peach and rust. I found it at a flea market in Paris many years ago, before I even made lamp shades, and bought it knowing one day I might find a use for it.
It matches the colors of the silk flowers perfectly. There is satin fabric underneath the embroidered fabric as well as on the sides. The satin fabric underneath the flower. Is actually a cream color (looks pink in the photos due to the burgundy lace/net fabric on top). The shade is a crescent moon shape; it measures approximately 11" across and 6" from top to bottom of fringe. There are two long burgundy tassels on each end.
The shade was sewn by hand, requiring pain-staking effort, days/hours of work and very expensive materials. Be sure to visit my shop for more and add me to your favorite sellers to see new listings!
