Lightolier, Gerald Thurston USA, circa 1955 Brass, enamel, steel, burlap Measure: 26.25 tall and 23 inches diameter round shade An entirely original table lamp by Gerald Thurston with the only change being made a new power cord. Note the original brass feet and caps to the top of the rods and the original shade with burlap cloth over plastic. Lamp dimensions can be deceptive as this is quite a large lamp in reality. The socket provides for three levels of power to the bulb - up to 100 watts incandescent, but with LED bulbs or fluorescence equivalence lighting much higher.

It lampshade diffuses light so that it is soft on the eye, casts light above to the ceiling much like a torchiere and also illuminates downward for objects. In excellent condition with only a few minor marks to the shade. A classic of the atomic age.
