Rare Vtg 50s Majestic Lamp Fiberglass Shades Retro Mid Century Modern Atomic Era

  
Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale an amazing and quite rare vintage MAJESTIC table lamp that dates back to the 1950s. The lamp is constructed of the characteristic black lacquered wooden accent pieces that you typically find on Majestic lamps, as well as the curvy tubular brass tubing. The fiberglass shades on this one are absolutely outstanding - both are football-shaped with random gold and white overlapping arc patterns running throughout, as well as gold paint splatters. The on/off rotary knob switch is located on the base, and it provides the lamp with three-way functionality - either one socket can light or the other, or with a third twist of the knob, both can be lit up at the same time. On the bottom of the base, there is a cutout in the green felt where the model number is etched into the base : E24854 (see photo). Measurements: With the shades attached, the lamp stands approx. 35" tall (to the top of the uppermost curved brass rod) x 18" wide (from the furthest side of each shade to the other). The round black lacquered base measures approx. 7" in diameter x 2" tall. Each of the fiberglass shades measures approx.

15" tall x 6.5" wide x 4.5 deep. The black lacquered accent pieces that form a ring above the base measure approx. Condition: Overall the lamp is in very good condition. The round base looks like it has been touched up in spots over time - either way, doesn't really detract. The brass shows a nice warm patina commensurate with age - no bends, dings, rust, oxidation, etc.

The fiberglass shades are in very good condition - no rips, holes, tears, etc. The lacing is original to the lamp, and is brittle in spots. There are several small breaks here and there in the lacing.

They are still structurally sound, but you may want to consider re-lacing them at some point in time. The lacing holes are all intact - none are ripped or broken in any way. One of the shades has a very small darkened spot on it (see photo) - we're not sure what it is as the lightbulb doesn't come into contact anywhere near the shade material based on the position of the mark (see photo) - not sure if it'll come out or not with a cleaning. It doesn't really detract, but we are mentioning it for accuracy.

The electrical wiring looks to be original, and it's in good condition - no frays, splits, exposed wires, etc. As with all vintage lighting, we'd strongly recommend having a licensed professional check the lamp wiring prior to long term use. It's ready for a new home!
