Large Vintage Mica Lamp Shade. Gorgeous shade lit or unlit. Mica was popular 1910 Arts & Crafts through the 1930's Art Deco.

I believe the shade was created 1920's 30's. Stamped on the top of the small center ring is Rindsberger Chicago along with 2 Maltese style crosses.

Late 19th century early 20th century Buntman Bothers & Rindsberger of Chicago Illinois USA were manufacturers and jobbers of decorative art objects for the home. Items included picture frames, mirrors, lamps, lamp shades, lamp finials and a host of period home decorative art accessories. Some items were created in house, some farmed out to smaller more craft specific studios and others imported from Eastern Europe. I do not know where the shade was created, the crosses have their origin in Europe, I believe. The shade is put together very well, structurally sound, rigid, when handled it feels like 1 big piece, no slop, looseness, wiggles of any kind. The individual Mica pieces were adjoined using came. When closely examined there is some evidence which indicates the came is copper. Installed by the creator are small steel rods along the large opening inside perimeter edge to act as reinforcement. It's all soldered together nicely, very well made shade. Darkened surfaces, patina, to be expected. The shade had been stored away for many years so there may be some dust present. Overall width at the bottom is 20 1/2", height is 12 1/4", top hole is 7 3/4. A shade of this size would look great on a floor base or large table base, versatile dimensions.
