Vintage 50s Majestic Z Boomerang Lamp Fiberglass Shades Mid Century Modern Retro
Up for sale is a vintage MAJESTIC "Z" boomerang lamp with its original fiberglass shades. It is from the 1950s.
The base is constructed of black painted wood accent pieces that are affixed to curved brass rods. The fiberglass shades are beige in color with black and gold painted designs throughout. The lamp has an on/off working rotary knob located on the black wedge-shaped base, and it provides the lamp with three-way functionality: one turn lights up one socket, another turn lights up the opposite socket, and a third turn lights them both up at the same time. Measurements: With the shades attached, the lamp stands approx.
26.5 tall x 22.5 wide. Each of the fiberglass shades measures approx. 14" in diameter x 4" tall. The wedge-shaped base measures approx.11.25" wide x 6.5" deep x 2.25 tall at its maximum height. Condition: Overall, given its age, the lamp is in great condition. There are some scuff marks on the base, but the paint looks to be original and is in good shape.
The brass shows some patina which is not surprising considering its age. The fiberglass shades are free from rips, holes, tears, burns, etc. The black lacing is very dry and has come off in some areas (see pictures) but can be re-laced by new owner if desired. This cannot be helped, since I will wrap the shades to prevent damage to the actual fiberglass.
The electrical wiring is original and appears to be in good condition - no frays, splits, exposed wires, etc. The lamp is in fully-functioning, working condition.
